Overview : 9 SONGS takes place in London in the summer of 2003 when Matt meets Lisa (Margo Stilley), a visiting American student, at a Black Rebel Motorcycle Club concert at the Brixton Academy. Matt falls in love with her and the film follows their relationship, as well as seeing 9 songs performed from each of the concerts they go to together: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Von Bondies, Elbow, Primal Scream, The Dandy Warhols, Super Furry Animals, Franz Ferdinand and Michael Nyman. Intercutting the concert sequences with their lovemaking, Winterbottom uses their sex to depict the relationship as it unfolds.
