Lake Bell - Detailed Biography
Lake
Bell (Ashley)
Trained at The Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama, one of London’s
most esteemed schools of drama, Lake Bell has quickly secured her place
as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after and vibrant young talents.
Bell will next be seen starring in Jeff Lowell's Over Her Dead Body,
opposite Eva Longoria Parker. The film centers on a female psychic
(Bell) who falls in love with a skeptic (Paul Rudd) while the ghost of
his dead fiancé (Longoria) tries to keep them apart. The film will be
released by New Line on February 1, 2008.
Bell will also star in Gavin O'Connor's Pride and Glory, opposite Colin
Farrell and Edward Norton. Bell plays "Megan," a woman married to a
policeman (Farrell) involved in a corruption scandal which tears apart a
three-generation family of officers. The film was written by Gavin
O'Connor and Joe Canarhan and will be released by New Line.
Bell recently wrapped production on Tom Vaughn's What Happens in Vegas,
starring opposite Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher. Bell plays "Tipper"
whose best friend (Diaz) accidentally marries Kutcher following a night
of debauchery. The next morning, Diaz and Kutcher discover one of them
has won a jackpot after playing the other's quarter and Bell and Diaz
team up against Kutcher in a series of plots to get their hands on the
money. The film is scheduled to be released by 20th Century Fox on May
16, 2008.
On television, Lake starred on NBC's "Surface". Prior to that role, she
starred on ABC’s critically acclaimed drama "Boston Legal," opposite
James Spader and William Shatner, and NBC’s "Miss Match," opposite
Alicia Silverstone. Additionally, Bell starred opposite Jeff Goldblum in
the NBC telefilm "War Stories," which followed journalists covering the
civil war in Uzbekistan in the wake of the U.S. campaign in Afghanistan.
Bell also had a recurring role on “ER.”
Bell had extensive training while in school in London which included
dance (from historical to jive) and stage combat (sword, dagger, and
rapier). She received certification from the British Academy of Dramatic
Combat. Her London theatre credits include: "The Seagull," "Six Degrees
of Separation," "The Children's Hour" and "The Pentecost."
Bell was born in New York City and currently splits her time between New
York and Los Angeles.
