Applying Makeups
Correction Of Eyes Using Makeup:
The shape of the eye can be improved by experimenting with colour and texture. Identify the shape of your eyes and follow the tips given:
-
For Small Eyes: Give the eyes maximum area by plucking the eyebrows fine. Use eye shadow under the lower lashes as well as on top of the lid. Curve the eye shadow upwards towards the brow in the shape of a wing and blend it well on the upper lid from the centre outwards. To increase the length of the eyes line both the lids, extending the meeting line fairly out. Apply double coat of mascara on both the upper and lower lashes.
-
For Wide-Set Eyes: Pencil the eyebrows close to each other. Blend shadow close to the corner of the nose and stop at the centre of the upper lid. Outline the upper lid from the inner corner of the eye, bringing it near the nose ridge to make the eyes appear a little closer. Leaving an approximate distance of one eye in between the two eyes. Don't extend beyond the outer corner of the eye.
-
For Close-Set Eyes: Shape your eyebrows so that they are not very close-together in appearance. Apply eye shadow on the upper outer half of the lid, extending above the eye and under the brow. Draw the eye line on the upper lid , away from the inner corner, work it up and out. Again the lower line should not begin from the inner corner.
-
For Deep-Set Eyes: Use a dark eye shadow under the eyebrow, and a lighter eye shadow on the lid. Use liner only on the lower lid and extend it out and up.
-
For Round Eyes: Shape of your eyebrows is angular form. Blend eye-shadow from the centre of the lid and deepen it at the outer edge of the eye. Extend it a little beyond the outer corner of the eye. Line the upper lids, starting from the inner corner and extend it out and up so that it appears lengthier.
Lip Makeup:
No look is complete without lipstick. It provides the final touch to your makeup. A steady hand and some practice will give you the perfect finish.
What You Would Need?
-
Narrow, flat ended brush
-
Selection of finely sharpened lip pencils
-
Lip gloss and lipstick (either conventional tube lipstick or the cream type with a sponge-tip applicator)
You will need a special lip base or balancer if your lip colour is uneven. A lighter tone on the dark areas and a dark tone on the light areas. These balancers provide a base for lipstick and help to keep the colour of the lipstick pure and clear.
Lip Makeup Application Technique:
-
Outlining With Lip Liner:
Smooth your lips and make them grease free before outlining them. Your lip liner pencil should be sharp and in a shade close to that of your lipstick colour. With a steady hand, lightly outline the lips. For the upper lip, start at the centre and work out towards the corner of the mouth. For the lower lip, work from side to side.
-
Undercoating The Lips With A Lip Balancer:
To even out the tones fill in the lips with a special base or balancer. If your lips are of an even colour, use a face powder as a base.
-
Filling Up With Lipstick:
Always use a lip brush to fill in the colour. For the upper lip start at the center and work outwards. On the lower lip work from side to side. Never apply excess color it is much easier to add more later than to remove any excess.
-
Blotting Off:
Fold a clean tissue and place it between your lips. Press your lips lightly together. This helps to remove excess colour and helps seal the remainder. Thus color stays on the lips rather than moving onto every glass you use.
-
Final Lip Gloss Application:
Finish with a lip gloss to get a gleaming look. If you have extra full lips use gloss very sparingly.
